Parked Car Solar Heat Risk

Calculate how dangerously hot the interior of a vehicle becomes in direct sunlight over time. A critical safety tool for parents and pet owners.

Typical range: 70°F (21°C) to 110°F (43°C)

Why cars heat up so fast

A vehicle acts like a greenhouse. Shortwave radiation from the sun passes through the windows and heats the dashboard, seats, and steering wheel. These surfaces then radiate longwave heat, which cannot easily escape through the glass. This trapped heat causes interior temperatures to spike drastically within just 10 minutes.

Cracking the windows slightly does little to slow down this rapid temperature rise.

Reduce Interior Heat

A high-quality reflective windshield sun shade can drastically lower interior temperatures and protect your dashboard from UV damage.
